The main sequence
Read Fourth Wing first, followed by Iron Flame and Onyx Storm. These are books one through three of the continuing Empyrean story, and each volume depends on the events of the previous book.
Current status
The Empyrean remains ongoing. Red Tower Books says five main books are planned; books four and five are still forthcoming, and no verified publication date for book four was available when this guide was checked on August 24, 2026.
The 2026 story collection
Threshing Day is scheduled for September 29, 2026. The author's official announcement describes it as thirteen Empyrean stories rather than the fourth main novel, so it is tracked in New Releases without being numbered as book four here.
